Fenwick Receives Largest Gift in School History

Bishop Fenwick High School Announces Major Gift Donation

With extreme gratitude, Bishop Fenwick High School Principal/CEO Blane Collison announced today that Fenwick has received the largest single gift in the school’s history. Philanthropists Chester and Stephanie Yeager have graciously donated $2 million to Fenwick.

This transformational gift will be used to replace the current grass field in the stadium with a new turf field. “The installation of a synthetic turf field will greatly enhance the safety and playing experience of our student-athletes, and will allow us an athletic facility no longer impacted by weather conditions. We are incredibly grateful to the Yeager family for their most generous contribution in making this field a reality!” said Collison.

Collison made the gift announcement to the Fenwick student body today during the school’s spring pep rally. The pep rally kicked off the spring sports season, and the announcement was met with resounding applause and cheering from the students.

Athletic Director Tyler Miller said, “Having a turf field will allow our student-athletes to train with ideal conditions year-round and give them the ability to compete on a premier playing surface.”

“This field will serve all the students at Fenwick, not just athletes,” Miller continued. “Our fine-arts programs, physical education, and daily student life will be improved with this addition. It allows Fenwick to continue to provide our students with first-class facilities as we move into the future.”

Vanessa Mosley, Fenwick’s Director of Advancement, agreed. “This leadership gift has already sparked interest from other funders, and the future of our campus improvement plan looks bright.”

Chester and Stephanie Yeager have been true friends to and partners with Fenwick. The Yeager family has a history of providing substantial support to Fenwick. Throughout the years, they have offered matching challenge gifts on our annual Day of Giving, and they continue to support Fenwick’s Counseling Program, providing funding for the Nest and the Birkman™ Assessment.

Construction on the new field is scheduled for completion on September 1. Arrangements are being made to accommodate our athletes during construction. We anticipate very little disruption to the larger school community as the majority of the construction will occur during the summer months. Fenwick has partnered with Fenwick alum Jim Kleingers ’74, Founder and Executive Chairman of The Kleingers Group, Elevar Design Group, and The Motz Group for this project.

“We are very excited for our programs to be able to compete on artificial turf this upcoming fall season,” said Miller. “Go Falcons!”

We will keep the community updated throughout this project.
