Bye Bye Birdie sends audiences back to the ’50s in an energetic and nostalgic play about rock music, teenage drama, and romance. When pop-icon Conrad Birdie is drafted, his fans are heartbroken. His manager and struggling songwriter, Albert Peterson, faces more than the loss of a client – he faces utter financial ruin.
Albert and Rosie concoct a plan to save Albert from failure and send Conrad Birdie off to war with style. Albert will compose one last hip-shaking pop-song for Conrad to perform on television for one special fan. Their plan is successful and Ohioan Kim McAfee is poised to meet her rock-and-roll idol on the Ed Sullivan Show.
When Albert and Rosie arrive in Ohio to prepare for Birdie’s final performance, their great plans begin to collapse and Albert must decide to either abandon his juvenile dependence on others and become the hero of his own story or lose Rosie, his future, and himself.
